The Department of Health invites tenders to this RFT for the provision of services to conduct an annual Healthy Ireland Survey for a 3 year period
Healthy Ireland is the National Framework for action to improve health and wellbeing of people living in Ireland. An important feature of Healthy Ireland is a focus on research and evidence to ensure goals, programmes and policy and programming decisions are based on robust evidence, best practice approaches, and integrated with service delivery to maximise impact. Since 2014 the Healthy Ireland Survey has been administered on an annual basis on behalf of the Department of Health. http://www.healthyireland.ie/accessibility/healthy-ireland-survey/
Reports of the first three survey waves, 2015, 2016 and 2017, have been published; findings of the fourth Wave will be published in autumn 2018. The surveys have provided an up-to-date picture of the nation’s health. It is the intention of the Department of Health to engage a contractor to conduct further Waves of the Healthy Ireland Survey on an annual basis.

Healthy Ireland is the National Framework for action to improve health and wellbeing of people living in Ireland. It is a pro-active response to the many risks that threaten Ireland’s future health and wellbeing. Healthy Ireland’s vision is one where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and wellbeing to their full potential, where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society and is everyone’s responsibility.
Further details are available at http://www.healthyireland.ie/
It describes four high-level goals:
— increase the proportion of people who are healthy at all stages of life,
— reduce health inequalities,
— protect the public from threats to health and wellbeing,
— create an environment where every individual and sector of society can play their part in achieving a healthy Ireland.
An important feature of Healthy Ireland is a focus on research and evidence to ensure goals, programmes and policy and programming decisions are based on robust evidence, best practice approaches, and integrated with service delivery to maximise impact.

Reports of the first three survey waves, 2015, 2016 and 2017, have been published. The fieldwork for the fourth wave is underway; findings will be published in autumn 2018. The surveys have provided an up-to-date picture of the nation’s health along with a robust and credible baseline set of data on a range of health behaviours which have significant impact on individual health outcomes.
These data are now also being used to inform current and future policy direction and programme development and implementation. Results are also being shared publicly for research purposes; the data from the 2015 Survey has been deposited with ISSDA and has, to date, been used by 151 researchers.
The Department of Health invites Tenders to this request for Tenders from economic operators (Tenderers) for the provision of services to conduct an annual Healthy Ireland Survey for a 3 year period, with the possibility of extension for a 4th year under the same terms and conditions, with agreement of both Parties.
